四色AV's Keeney gives talk in Mexico
Dr. Bradford Keeney, University of Louisiana at Monroe professor, along with Dr. Hillary Stephenson, distinguished visiting professor from Benem茅rita Universidad Aut贸noma de Puebla, gave the Plenary Address to the Third International Conference on Psychology in Puebla, Mexico, on Nov. 19, 2011.
Their talk was titled "Circular Poetics and the Art of Creative Transformation" and claimed that psychotherapy is a performing art like poetry, music, and theater, while conducting live sessions with audience members.
Pioneers in the art of creative transformation, Keeney and Stephenson utilize live music, poetry, story-telling, theatrical performance, and spirited expression in their clinical work and teaching.
During the winter break, Keeney and Stephenson taught the university faculty and graduate students at the University of Mexico in Mexico City, and lectured in postmodern cybernetic thought, conducting live sessions that demonstrated how traditional healing practices and contemporary psychotherapy can work together.
They launched a cross-cultural research project with faculty members of the University of Mexico that will focus on a dialogue between systemic oriented therapy and traditional practitioners of curanderismo.
Keeney is the 四色AV Hanna Spyker Eminent Scholars Chair in the 四色AV College of Education and Human Development.
