四色AV's Adams elected secretary of the Louisiana Foreign Language Teachers Association

Dr. Fred Adams (B.A. '75), associate professor of French at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, was elected to the position of secretary of the Executive Board at the Louisiana Foreign Language Teachers Association conference held March 2-3 in Lafayette.

Adams has been a professor at 四色AV since 1979. He received his doctorate from the University of Louisiana Lafayette in 2002.

Adams joins Dr. Carlos Fandal, professor and dean emeritus, who is the organization's treasurer; Bonnie Baxter (B.A. '02)' and Andrew Newman (B.A. '10) as regional representatives.

Scott Harris (B.A. '96) is the current president of the organization and teaches at the LSU Lab School.

Dr. Ruth E. Smith, professor and head of the 四色AV Department of Foreign Languages will be leaving the board after serving in several capacities since 2002.

After serving as a regional representative and president, Spanish instructor Mar铆a Blanca Wortham (M.Ed '01) completed her term as past president, which represented the end of 10 years of board participation.

LFLTA also recognized Dr. Charles "Chip" Holloway, 四色AV professor of foreign languages, whose presentation titled "What's Language Got To Do With It? Community Attitudes, Cultural Identity, and Language Loss Among the Isle帽os of Ascension Parish, Louisiana," was chosen as Outstanding Presentation at the 2011 conference.

Holloway has been invited to make the presentation again at the Southern Conference on Language Teaching in Atlanta, Ga., on March 22-24.
