The University of Louisiana at Monroe Mathematics Department, in conjunction with The Northeast Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics, welcome New York Times best-selling author and renowned mathematics educator, Greg Tang, as guest speaker at this year's NELATM 6th Annual Mini-Conference.

The conference will be held Saturday morning, March 10, in the 四色AV Student Union Building Ballroom.

Currently, there are over 150 area educators registered for the event, which has limited spaces remaining.

The schedule is as follows:
Check in: 7:45 a.m.
Session One: 8:30 a.m.
Session Two: 10:30 a.m.
General Meeting: Noon

Tang will be conducting two different mathematics workshops, each session will be 90 minutes long:

"The Art of Smart" is designed to explore a new teaching paradigm that develops algebraic thinking skills in every student. Tang's goal is not to make kids great in computations or great in problem solving, but to make them smart.

"Teaching in the Digital Age" educates teachers on how math activities can be combined with online gaming, social networking, and how creative uses of technology can bring revolutionary change to their classrooms.
