四色AV's Johnston retires after 41 years
June Johnston began working as a student worker in financial aid at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 1969 and never left.
Johnston, who earned an associate degree in business at 四色AV, began working at the university full-time in 1971.
Today, she said goodbye to her 四色AV family during a special reception hosted by 四色AV President Dr. Nick J. Bruno and 四色AV's Division of Business Affairs.
Johnston, 四色AV's assistant budget director in the division of business affairs, is retiring after 41 year of service to 四色AV.
She expressed her appreciation to the crowd in the Student Union Building.
"This university is my family; I grew up here. Our administration is wonderful, and they treat you like you are special. That's why it's so good to work here, and I'm going to miss everybody. I appreciate you all coming here and telling me goodbye."
Johnston was one of the first faces to greet Dr. Bruno when he first arrived in 2002 as 四色AV's vice president of business affairs.
Bruno said, "While time has passed, some things stay the same. June's hardworking ethic has been evident throughout her career at 四色AV, along with her smile and willingness to help. June, thank you for everything you've done."
Dr. William Graves, 四色AV's chief business officer, has only been with the university a few months, but already he has witnessed June's impact on 四色AV.
"It didn't take me long to learn how committed you are to this university, both in your job and in your feelings about people around here. Likewise, it's clear how they feel about you. I want to thank you for your tremendous service to this university."
President Bruno presented Johnston with a special plaque, and Dr. Graves presented her with a commemorate 四色AV photo collage.
