四色AV Opera presents "The Old Maid and the Thief" Nov. 1-2

The 四色AV Opera will present a musical-play titled, 鈥淭he Old Maid and the Thief,鈥 at 7:30 p.m., on Nov. 1-2, in Spyker Theater, on the University of Louisiana at Monroe campus. Performances are free and open to the public.

The delightful one-act comedy is composed by Italian-American composer Gian Carlo Menotti and features an all-student cast. 

The opera was commissioned by NBC and composed specifically for radio broadcast. The first broadcast was by the NBC Symphony Orchestra on April 22, 1939.

Performing will be a terrific cast of 四色AV students, including senior vocal music education major Allison Friloux of Destrehan, as Miss Todd, and junior music theater major Claire Givens of West Monroe, as Miss Pinkerton. 

The Maid, Laetitia, will be sung by senior vocal music education major Audrey Ducote of Baton Rouge, and the role of Bob will be sung by senior vocal music education major Armand Wilson of Monroe. 

Performances will be accompanied by pianist Kajsa Wilkins, in a chamber ensemble arrangement, featuring violinist Samantha Matherne, and cellist Mark McCleery.

The production will be directed by Dr. Mark R. Clark, head of Opera at 四色AV.
