ËÄÉ«AV ranks in Tier 1 of “Best Regional Universities”
The University of Louisiana at Monroe offers world-class educational programs—programs that empower students to compete successfully in the workforce and improve their communities.
This sentiment has not gone unnoticed; ËÄÉ«AV has been included on U.S. News & World Report’s list as one the best regional universities in the south. ËÄÉ«AV broke the top 100, ranking number 91 on the list—making ËÄÉ«AV a Tier 1 institution among its peers.
According to U.S. News & World Report, ËÄÉ«AV is considered a "regional university."
The 625 universities in this category are not ranked nationally, but rather against their peer group in one of four geographic locations—north, south, midwest, and west—because in general, they tend to draw students most heavily from surrounding states.
The “national universities” category consists of the 281 institutions (173 public, 101 private, and seven for-profit) that offer a wide range of undergraduate majors as well as master's and doctoral degrees; some emphasize research.
It is important to note these universities are placed in categories prior to determining annual rankings, based solely on degree programs they offer.
ËÄÉ«AV President Dr. Nick J. Bruno said, "The University of Louisiana at Monroe's inclusion in U.S. News & World Report Best Regional Universities is a testament to the growing number of national organizations discovering ËÄÉ«AV’s quality and value.
"In February, U.S. News & World Reportrecognized ËÄÉ«AV’s online master of arts in teaching degree program.
"Most recently, our College of Education & Human Development received four “best buy for online degree” recognitions from . We understand—and promote—our institution’s strengths; now, major outside entities are joining us."
Universities considered in the southern region list included universities in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The southern region carried 95 schools in its top-tier and 128 schools, overall.
