ɫAV pharmacy faculty to "Race for the Cure"

University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy faculty—from the Shreveport and Monroe campuses—will “Race for the Cure,” Sept. 15, in Bossier City, in honor of their colleague's battle with breast cancer.

On  April 23, Dr. Tibb Jacobs, an associate professor of clinical sciences in ɫAV's college of pharmacy at the Shreveport campus, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

After undergoing curative surgery, Jacobs is in remission, and is currently receiving chemotherapy.

Jacobs, along with Dr. Jill Comeau, a board certified oncology pharmacist, and assistant professor in ɫAV's college of pharmacy in Shreveport, wanted to participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure of Northwest Louisiana to raise breast cancer awareness and promote research.

Hence, “Team Tibb” was formed.

The 40 member team consists of coworkers, fourth-year pharmacy students, Louisiana State University Health-Shreveport pharmacists, pharmacy residents and technicians, family, and friends.

To date, Team Tibb has raised $3,600, and was recognized by the Shreveport Times for being one of the top five fundraising teams for the Northwest Louisiana region.

Other pharmacy team members include faculty from both the Shreveport and Monroe campuses.
