ËÄÉ«AV fishing team featured in Time Magazine
The University of Louisiana at Monroe's Fishing Team has garnered national attention once again with a recent appearance in the Time Magazine article, "Big Fish on Campus," which highlights the sport of competitive college angling.
Written by Sean Gregory, the article appears in Time's June 10 issue. A free, abbreviated version of the article is available online at , and the complete article is available for Time digital subscribers.
Gregory interviewed ËÄÉ«AV Fishing Team members Paul Clark, a construction management major from Monroe, and Brett Pruett, a business administration graduate student from Colfax as part of his venture into the world of this up and coming college sport.
The feature was written during the April 2013 FLW National Championship in Rogers, Ark., where Preuett and Clark came from behind to win a prize package worth $30,000.
Gregory notes the recent boom in interest in the sport.
"In 2008, some 90 college bass-fishing clubs were scattered across the country," he wrote.
"By the end of 2012, according to FLW, there were 610."
Preuett and Clark are just two of the members of ËÄÉ«AV's 11-man team.
The team has seen gradual and consistent success with high rankings in the Association of Collegiate Anglers School of the Year competition, and wins at the South Texas Bass Fishing Open, the FLW National Championship, and Arkansas Tech University Invitational.

About the Association of Collegiate Anglers:
The Association of Collegiate Anglers (ACA) was formed to create a national, unified voice for the country's collegiate anglers, through an affiliation with the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship and related programs.
The organization has been made possible by a joint effort among The Bass Federation Inc. (TBF), Careco Multimedia, and a host of supporting companies.
With nearly 30,000 members across 47 states, TBF is the nation's oldest and largest organized national fishing group.
The ACA is a "federation" under the TBF umbrella, having its own board of directors, by-laws, and benefits.
Included in the benefits are club insurance coverage, access to conservation and equipment grants and more.
Any school recognized fishing club with at least six members can join the ACA.
