Master of Arts in Gerontology

Program Requirements

Regular Admission听

Applicants must have earned a baccalaureate degree with a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale听or听a 2.75 GPA on the last 60 hours of attempted coursework to beregularly admitted.

Applicants who have earned any graduate or terminal degree from a from a college or university accredited and recognized at the institutional level by the US Department of Education (USDOE) will qualify for听regular听admission to a master鈥檚 program provided they meet all other eligibility requirements.

Conditional Admission

Applicants must have earned a baccalaureate degree with a minimum overall GPA of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale听or听a 2.50 on the last 60 hours of attempted coursework to be听conditionally admitted.

Meet a minimum formula score of 622.6 (2.2 GPA x 283 GRE)听
or
With a GPA of 2.2 or higher, some candidates with 5 years of employment in a relevant field of study may qualify for a waiver of test scores in some programs.听 听


Frequently Asked Questions

What subject areas can I study?
The gerontology program offers specializations in aging studies, grief care management, long-term care administration, mental health,program administration, and small business management. Students who are pursuing the long-term care specialization and are not employed full-time in an aging-related service, will be required to complete a state-mandated AIT.
