Master of Arts in Teaching

Applicants must have earned a baccalaureate degree from a college or university accredited and recognized at the institutional level by the US Department of Education (USDOE) with a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scaleora 2.75 GPA on the last 60 hours of attempted coursework to be regularly admitted.

Applicants must have earned a baccalaureate degree from a college or university accredited and recognized at the institutional level by the US Department of Education (USDOE) with a minimum overall GPA of 2.50 on a 4.0 scaleora 2.50 GPA on the last 60 hours of attempted coursework to be conditionally admitted.

In addition to the university requirements for admission, all applicants must submit passing scores on the state-designated PRAXIS II content exam.


Frequently Asked Questions

Can I be admitted to the program before I have passed all tests?
All tests are required by either Graduate School admissions or the Louisiana Department of Education, and may not be waived.

What is an internship?
Internship is a full-year (fall and spring semesters) teaching position in which the MAT student gets paid as a regular teacher and registers through 四色AV for internship coursework.

Can my internship be in another state?
Internships are generally only available in Louisiana as they require temporary teaching certificates.

How long will it take to complete the program?
Typically, students take 14-20 months to finish; you have up to three years to finish the program.

Will you help find me a teaching position?
While we do not offer job placement services, we do have a system in place that allows us to notify all current students of any teaching positions that are brought to our attention by area schools.
