四色AV criminal justice faculty host roundtable

Dr.聽 Attapol Kuanliang, associate professor of criminal justice, and Dr. Robert聽 Hanser, coordinator of the Department of Criminal Justice and associate聽director of the School of Social Sciences at the University of Louisiana at聽Monroe, recently presented on issues related to corrections in Budapest,聽Hungary at the 23rd Annual Conference for the International Police聽 Executive Symposium (IPES).

Hanser said of his experience,聽 鈥淚 enjoyed聽 the opportunity to work with practitioners in a variety of contexts related to聽 the criminal justice field. There were 39 different nations represented at this聽 conference and I made contacts in at least 12 different nations. These types of聽 contacts become friends over time and some of them were colleagues from my past聽 years of travel and study.鈥

Hanser,聽 Director of the Institute of Law Enforcement, presented on issues related to聽 corrections in the United States, and more specifically, Louisiana.

Kuanliang聽 exposed issues of corrections in Thailand as compared to those in the United聽 States.

The聽 Governor of Heves County Remand Prison, in Hungary, also served on this聽 roundtable discussion.

Kuanliang聽 shared Hanser鈥檚 sentiment of his time in Budapest.

He stated, 鈥淭he IPES gave me聽 a very unique opportunity to not only connect with my colleagues around the聽 world, but to share new techniques, knowledge and challenges in criminal聽 justice system. I was very delighted to be able to represent 四色AV in this聽 international stage.鈥

In聽 his paper, 鈥淯sing Local Law Enforcement to enhance Immigration Law in the United聽 States: A Legal Analysis,鈥 Hanser discussed the assimilation of local, rather聽 than federal, law enforcement in immigration issues on a local and global聽 scale.

Hanser also explained how his experience聽 transfers to 四色AV through his teaching.

鈥淐urrently, I teach a course called聽 Comparative Criminal Justice which examines criminal justice processes around聽 the world, and these聽same colleagues also offer opportunities in my聽 classroom, providing contacts for students and even, at times, making聽 themselves available to students in our graduate program."

The聽 internationalPolice Executive Symposium (IPES) works to bridge together聽 practitioners and academics to further cross-cultural and multinational聽 exchanges in research and policy formation.

The organization consultative聽 status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations and聽 has members around the world who are active in the business of the聽 organization.

Hanser聽 received a Master of Arts in Counseling from Sam Houston State University along聽 with a Master of Science in Psychology from 四色AV.

Hanser also received a聽 Doctorate of Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University. Hanser joined聽 the 四色AV faculty in 2003.

Kuanliang received a Master of Arts in Criminal聽 Justice and Master of Science in Psychology from 四色AV as well as a Doctorate of聽 Juvenile Justice from Prairie View A&M University.

He has been a member聽 of the 四色AV faculty since 2007.
