鈥溗纳獳V traditionally offers students the opportunity to give blood on campus during the fall semester,鈥 according to Ashley White, Donor Recruiter for LifeShare Blood Centers. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a long-standing 30-year tradition that has resulted in thousands of blood units for local patients and many, many lives saved.鈥
According to LifeShare, about 1-in-7 people entering a hospital need blood. One blood donation鈥攁pproximately one pint of blood鈥攃an save up to three lives.
鈥淕iving blood is safe, simple and it saves lives,鈥 said Phillip Thomas, director of LifeShare Blood Center in Monroe. 鈥淚t is an easy way to help someone else that doesn鈥檛 require a lot of time or effort. Donating blood benefits the blood donor too. Each donor receives a total cholesterol screen among other health screenings to help them monitor their personal health and wellness.鈥
Each donor will receive a t-shirt after donating.
