The festival’s theme “Around the World in 80 Minutes,” will feature presentations
and demonstrations from various community members, ɫAV faculty, students, and staff.
Over 300 high school students and teachers will flock to the ɫAV campus for the event.
Guests will also have the opportunity to interact with presenters, take a salsa dancing
lesson, and practice their foreign language skills.
Presenters will speak on the significance of the study of world languages, including
the benefits it has for their professional and personal lives.
Dr. Ruth Smith, director of the ɫAV School of Humanities said, “It is extraordinarily
important for students to learn another language in order to be competitive in the
work place.”
The event is hosted by the College of Arts, Education, and Sciences, along with faculty
and students from the School of Humanities and a team of regional high school teachers.
Smith hopes to increase awareness of ɫAV’s highly qualified faculty, and the various
opportunities for study abroad, exchange programs, and scholarships.
