Nation’s largest leadership honor society awards eight ËÄÉ«AV faculty and staff members

MONROE, La. — Eight University of Louisiana Monroe faculty and staff members were honored for their impact on ËÄÉ«AV students and the community in the induction ceremony of ËÄÉ«AV’s chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success held on Thursday, Dec. 1.

The awards, created by the national office of the society, are awarded to the faculty and staff recognized by the members of the society for their contribution to the students and community. 

The faculty and staff that were presented awards are as follows:

The Honorary Membership Award is given to faculty, staff, or administrators who embody the mission of the National Society of Leadership and Success and demonstrate leadership qualities in a personal and professional capacity.

The award recipients for this year were Dr. Carl Thameling, Associate Professor of Communication, and Ida Gaines Wilson, Instructor of English.

The Excellence in Teaching Award is given to individuals who teach with passion, inspire students beyond the classroom, demonstrate dedication to developing students beyond academic qualifications, or make a positive difference in the lives of Society members.

The award recipients for this year were Robin Stephens, Associate Professor of Dance in the School of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), Shannon Banks, Toxicology Instructor, and Dr. Chris Michaelides, Associate Professor in the School of Humanities.

The Excellence in Service to Students Award is given to a non-faculty member on campus that exemplifies leadership and mentorship and has demonstrated commitment to bettering the lives of students.

The award recipients for this year were the ËÄÉ«AV Athletic Director Brian Wickstrom, Michael Roboski, Coordinator of Student Activities, and Marc Anthony Calhoun, Student Government Association. 

The National Society of Leadership and Success is the nation’s largest leadership honor society and includes 548 chapters and 670,925 members nationwide.
