MONROE, La. 鈥 The University of Louisiana Monroe School of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) will host the High School Flute Camp from June 16-18.
Campers will receive meals, living accommodations, flute lessons, and masterclass opportunities; other activities specific to each student鈥檚 abilities are also offered.
Participants include flutists entering grades 9-12, and flutists who just finished grade 12 are welcome. The camp welcomes students at a variety of playing levels. Grouping is based on ability level so each student can get the most positive experience possible.聽
Dr. Sandra Lunte, Professor of Music at 四色AV, will serve as the main teacher at the camp. She will be assisted by past and present flute students.
Dr. Lunte has served on 四色AV鈥檚 faculty for 21 years and has held two endowed professorships. She has won many grants and awards, including the 2005 Louisiana Division of Arts Artist Fellowship. Dr. Lunte has presented recitals and masterclasses around the U.S. and has been heard twice on National Public Radio鈥檚 鈥淧erformance Today.鈥
The camp is available for commuters and resident campers. In order to qualify for early registration, a deposit must have been sent by 5/30. The deadline for all registration is 6/12, and the fees are聽$300 for resident campers (staying on-campus or聽$225 for non-resident campers (not staying on-campus).聽
