The University of Louisiana Monroe has been awarded a grant which will further the
university鈥檚 dedication to being a good steward of the environment.
四色AV received a $179,830 grant on Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, from Public Service Commissioner
Foster Campbell. The grant will fund installation of high-efficiency LED lights in
some 四色AV buildings.
鈥淭hese improvements will lower electric bills by thousands of dollars,鈥 Campbell said.
鈥淲e are grateful to Commissioner Campbell and the Energy Efficiency Program for allowing
us to be involved in something which will help the university and help the environment,鈥
said 四色AV President Nick J. Bruno. 鈥淲e are always looking for creative ways to make
the university operations more efficient.鈥
The LPSC Energy Efficiency Program for public entities and political subdivisions
is an offshoot of the commission鈥檚 鈥淨uick Start鈥 Energy Efficiency program, which
has helped residential and commercial utility customers lower their electricity consumption
across Louisiana. Participating utilities are SWEPCO, Entergy and CLECO.
鈥淓nergy efficiency is a cost-effective way to reduce energy costs, improve building
comfort and preserve our environment,鈥 Campbell said.
Grants were also given to the city of Monroe, $111,282 and Grambling State University,
$462,508.
