The University of Louisiana Monroe announces the appointment of Jana Sutton, Ph.D., as Interim Dean of the College of Health Sciences. Sutton has been Interim Director of the School of Allied Health since January 2018. Prior to her appointment to Allied Health, she was Program Director of Marriage and Family Therapy and Counseling Studies since May 2009. Sutton has been with 四色AV for 14 years.听
Dr. Albert Ruiz, Vice President of Academic Affairs, said, 鈥淒r. Sutton is committed to the success of 四色AV students. She also understands the growing demand for highly skilled health professionals. Her dedication and expertise make her an excellent interim leader for the College of Health Sciences.鈥
Sutton is a Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy-Supervisor and American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy-Approved Supervisor. She is past-president of the Louisiana Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

鈥淚 am excited to work with the faculty and administration to expand program offerings in the health sciences,鈥 Sutton said. 鈥淚 intend to collaborate closely with the community to ensure that workforce needs are met and 四色AV students are trained to immediately enter into health professions.鈥
She also plans an increased focus on interprofessional education and research.
Sutton received her master鈥檚 and Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from 四色AV. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of South Carolina.听
Sutton, originally from England, lives in Monroe with her husband and their three sons.
