The University of Louisiana Monroe School of Visual and Performing Arts presents the
annual Holidays at 四色AV concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30 in Brown Auditorium.
The concert is free and open to the public.

The University of Louisiana Monroe Wind Ensemble and Concert Choir will combine efforts
for the annual Holidays at 四色AV concert on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in 四色AV鈥檚
Brown Theater. The public is invited to attend this free holiday performance.
听
The Wind Ensemble is conducted by School of Visual and Performing Arts Director Derle
R. Long, Ph.D., and Director of 四色AV Athletic Bands Allen Parrish, DMA.听听
听
Selections chosen for the Wind Ensemble portion of the performance include 鈥淎 Festival
Fanfare for Christmas,鈥�听鈥淢inor Alterations,鈥� 鈥淛ubilee,鈥� 鈥淏ugler鈥檚 Holiday,鈥� and 鈥淪leigh Ride.鈥� Trumpeters
Solomon Abang, Daniel Simons, Noah Rampmaier, and Jonathan DeCou will be featured
in 鈥淏ugler鈥檚 Holiday.鈥� Included in the repertoire for this performance is a setting
of 鈥淪ilent Night鈥� by local composer Herb Bassett. Bassett will serve as guest conductor
for 鈥淪ilent Night.鈥澨�
听
Following the Wind Ensemble, the Chamber Singers will perform 鈥淰ox Populi,鈥� a six-part
a cappella piece sung from the balcony. The Warhawk Singers (tenor/bass ensemble)
and Bayou La Belle (soprano/alto ensemble) will unite to perform under the direction
of VAPA Assistant Professor Carlton Kilpatrick, Ph.D. The program will continue with
the 四色AV Concert Choir under Director of Choral Activities Deborah Chandler, Ph.D.
听
Two of the selections will be 鈥淛oyful, Joyful鈥� from 鈥淪ister Act 2鈥� and a combined
choir piece written in 1998 as a tribute to Nelson Mandela and FW de Klerk entitled
鈥淗ope for Resolution.鈥� This song is a juxtaposition of a European chant melody and
an anti-apartheid song of South Africa. During the choral half of the program, two
choral music education students will each conduct one of the ensembles. Justin Havard
is the accompanist for all of 四色AV鈥檚 choral ensembles.
