MONROE, LA 鈥� Myles Goldman, 四色AV sophomore, Reginald F. Lewis Scholar, and TRIO Scholar, presented
"A Marketing Analysis for Chennault Aviation and Military Museum" at the Undergraduate
Research Conference at the University of Louisiana Lafayette (ULL) on November 4,
2023. ULL organizes the Undergraduate Research Conference annually in November.听 Undergraduates
from universities and colleges around Louisiana met to share their knowledge and research
through oral presentations, lightning talks, and poster presentations. 听
The University of Louisiana System听Reginald F. Lewis Scholars Program and 四色AV TRIO Student Support Services sponsored the project.听 Mr. Goldman received guidance
from Mr. Tommie Nelson, 四色AV TRIO Retention Specialist, Dr. Claire Norris, Associate
Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Special Initiatives at University
of Louisiana System, Dr. Jun Yu, 四色AV Associate Professor of Marketing, and Dr. Joyce
Zhou, 四色AV Professor of Marketing and Business.听 听
鈥淚t was a great experience working with TRIO and Reginald F. Lewis Scholar Myles听Goldman,鈥�
said Dr. Joyce Zhou. 鈥淲hen we brainstormed听his听project ideas, we tried to leverage
his听history major background with听my area of听business marketing. Myles has acquired听new
knowledge on conducting research and enhanced his critical thinking skills. I am very
proud of his accomplishments and expect to see great things from him.鈥澨�听
Mr. Goldman鈥檚 research entailed collecting data and听analyzing听the marketing activities
of听the听museum to help determine听future improvements听to听further attract听Gen Z and Millennial
visitors.听听
Engaging in research activities such as these enhances the student's academic experience
by combining classroom theory with practical, real-world concerns. 鈥�Students who engage in research tend to have higher critical thinking and problem-solving
skills,鈥� said Dr. Claire Norris. 鈥淎lso, research plays a significant role in accreditations as well as the competitiveness
of the university, which ultimately enables it to attract top talent in terms of both
students and faculty.鈥�听
The Reginald F. Lewis Scholars Program of the University of Louisiana System improves
the college experience for black male students in the system. The Reginald F. Lewis
Scholars Program provides a three-year curated educational experience focused on three
key areas鈥揳cademics, social advancement, and community service. The program seeks
to recruit black males and provide educational programs, mentoring opportunities,
and co-curricular experiences to improve outcomes.听
