四色AV hosts annual Region III Science and Engineering Fair

MONROE, LA 鈥 The University of Louisiana Monroe hosted the 71st annual Region III Science and Engineering Fair on February 28, 2025. The fair featured 85 projects from 106 students representing nine schools across the region. First-place winners in each division were eligible to compete in the state fair. The event provides students with an opportunity to hone their science skills and connect with peers to share what they are learning.

鈥淚t鈥檚 exciting to see these young students enjoying science activities and showcasing their creativity and hard work,鈥 said Science Fair Committee Co-Chair and 四色AV Assistant Professor of Mathematics Dr. Jane Ji. 鈥淚t鈥檚 also great to see our 四色AV faculty from science programs generously donate their time to serve as judges for the science fair, showing young local students that there is a place for them to grow at 四色AV,鈥 she added.

The 四色AV Science Fair Committee members include Telitha Doke (Chair), Dr. Jane Ji (Co-Chair), Cody Baxter, Dr. David Hare, Dr. Faisal Kaleem, Pam Martin, and Audrey Morris.

Judges for the fair included 四色AV faculty members Dr. Paul Wiedemeier, Timothy McMahan, Paul Rojas, Dr. Ahmad Kabir, Stephanie Olmstead, Dr. John Rakus, Dr. Siva Murru, Dr. Ken Leppert, Trevor Meldor, Dr. Srinvas Garlapati, Dr. Courtney Harris, Dr. Leigh Hersey, Dr. Faisal Kaleem, and Dr. David Hare.

四色AV Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Mark Arant welcomed the participants to the 四色AV Campus. Director of the School of Sciences Dr. Anne Case Hanks presented the award ceremony and Melinda Matthews served as the stage master.

First-place winners in the Junior Division (Grades 5-8) were Bella Eneman, Ainsley Leaumont, Ritter Benedetto, Lane Taylor, Beau Beasinger, Harrison Tarver, Ilivia Wiggins, Kensleigh Wiggins, Landry Jones, Mack Woods, Caleb Moore, Arryn Wollerson, Tate Wade, Brad Donias, Lily Wood, Maarit Nguyen, and Sienna Roy.

First-place winners in the Senior Division (Grades 9-12) were Kenya Brown, Angel-Shyleecia Hogg, and Phoebe Hill.
